Getting Started Daily Care

Softchip offers several major advantages over other bedding systems and is readily available in 25kg bales from a network of stockists across the UK.

Used correctly Softchip is very quick and easy to work with. Very little waste is removed from the stable keeping the muck heap smaller than most other types of bedding and because it doesn't blow about you will have a tidier yard.

A Softchip bed can be taken up daily or used on a deep litter system.

Start with a clean empty stable, Rubber mats can be left on the stable floor, for a 12ft x 12ft stable, you should plan initially using between 6 and 10 bales depending on the depth of the bed you require and whether you want to have banks.

Add Softchip to the stable to a depth of at least 6 inches and level with a shavings fork, so that it is level and firm.

If you prefer you can use Softchip as a deep litter bedding, a bed of approx 6 inches will work better, as the wet will drain down to the bottom layers, leaving the top drier.
